Children often have to walk long distances several times a day in order to
bring water home for cooking and washing. This not only costs them time that could
have been spent working in their gardens or studying, it puts them at risk to
abuse.
Young children are often given this task as the older ones are cooking or
working. Situations encountered are far from home and the protection of older
family members is not available.
Some areas of our country are extremely affected by drought requiring children to walk long distances to fetch water.
A 200 litre water tank would be sufficient to cater for a family's domestic needs while a 5000 litre tank would allow them to plant a garden.
