| | To empower the most vulnerable members of
our communities towards good health, nutrition, education and life skills. Our
focus is on orphans and vulnerable children.
GOALS
In our implementation areas, all school aged children in child headed households (<18 years) will be in school (or NCP) and have access to a supportive community network to facilitate emotional well- being, good health and safety. |
 |
We will undertake the following in order to reach our most vulnerable households, child headed and elderly headed households (child headed in waiting).
To ensure food security through sustainable community and school based organic food gardens to feed the growing number of orphaned children. These gardens will be established through training trainers, community members, teachers and children.
To provide an enhanced learning environment for our sponsored (ovc) students, through strengthening capacity of school managers and teachers for effective management of school resources, participatory school planning and to implement and institutionalise child friendly approaches in their teaching and interactions with children.
To strengthen capacity for provision and monitoring of protective environments for children in CHH through forging links with local leadership, service providers (eg Agricultural extension officers, Rural Health Motivators, local clinic, and caregivers from the local NCP), other NGOs and neighbours.
To ensure safety, access to education, adequate shelter, clean water and sanitation, strengthen lifeskills for adequate food, healthcare and emotional well-being for CHH.
To create awareness of the importance of nutrition and provide healthcare through the use of vitamins and supplements. A critical part of imparting life skills is the sensitization to HIV/Aids and promotion of home remedies.
To provide a sound foundation for pre-schoolers and subsequent bursaries for ongoing education.(This is to support orphans and vulnerable children.) |
