The Moya Centre

We have a two roomed concrete building, from which we provide primary health care and distribute vitamins and supplements twice a week. Our emphasis is focused on nutrition, general hygiene and sexual lifestyle chioces.

We have a long standing working relationship with the Salvation Army, based in Mbabane. We refer many of our patients to them for counselling and treatment of STDs.

One of the biggest problems we face is the mental health of overloaded care givers. The elderly have increased parenting responsibilities through inheriting orphans with few resources available.  They are in dire need of support in combating stress which is now affecting their health and sapping their strength.

Moya Centre Preschool
Moya Centre Graduating Class As we opened the doors of our playschool, the Indvuna (our Chief) told us that a new chapter has opened in Mahlanya.
We are learning to love each other with no boundaries.

Our playschool for parentless children is run by Clarence Sigudla and Thobile Magongo and operates from a small wooden structure in Malkerns. The property is fenced and is protected by the Mahlanya Community Police.
Children are recommended to us by the Indvuna (head of the community) and his council who have verified their parentless status.
We have a small feeding scheme in place for these kids during the day.

Our Workshop

We hold workshops for school committees on financial skills & sensitization to OVCs situations. Additional workshops for all teachers are held focusing on psychosocial skills, group work & basic literacy with relevant text books for the children supplied.

We also hold workshops for all of our sponsored children and the community. Emotional, physical and sexual abuse are rife amongst this vulnerable group and so community members need to be sensitized to their plight.

Workshop Kids

We have expanded into 15 high schools to encourage school feeding (where possible), child protection and enhanced learning environments for all students and additional support for the most vulnerable students.
